Solid Hardwood Flooring - Westchester and Stamford
Solid hardwood flooring is a popular choice among homeowners thanks to its durability and diversity of colors and styles. Wood varieties include oak, maple, birch, pine, cherry, fir and even bamboo floors.
Most solid hardwood flooring comes in one of three styles: strip, plank and parquet. Strip hardwood floors range from 1 ½- to 2 ¼-inches wide. Plank floors are wider, which gives the room a larger appearance; parquet floors are made of individual wood squares arranged in a pattern.

Years ago, solid hardwood flooring was used for structural purposes. Today, it is a mainly aesthetic choice. When choosing a color and style, keep in mind the installation options for solid hardwood flooring: tongue-and-groove, click systems and floor connection systems. Also remember that hardwood should never be installed over concrete or below ground. Therefore, if your home in Westchester or Fairfield is built on a concrete slab and you want the look of wood, you might also consider the following flooring types:
If you install unfinished solid hardwood flooring, you can choose your own stain color as well as finish (or shine level – matte, satin, semi-gloss or glossy). We offer both oil-based and water-based polyurethanes.
While sanding & refinishing can be a bit messy, we do offer a dustless sanding system. Due to the smell and drying times involved with refinishing hardwood, most of our customers choose to do these sorts of jobs either before they move into their new home or while they are away.
